Thumbs up Opinion Thread #1 - Under Rug Swept

Ok, here is a new thread that I'm starting...hopefully will turn into a regular feature...

I want to know what you all think of the new Alanis Morissette CD, Under Rug Swept.

And what I want:
1. Your thoughts
2. Recomend to a friend?
3. Worth a buy, or Download only

I hope to do this with new upcoming releases, as well as some classic albums...PM me if you like or hate this idea....

Thanks

Good topic dj. I dl this cd 2 weeks ago. Have only heard it once. No song really stood out but I thought is was tolerable. Although I do loooove her last cd. I wouldn't recomend to friends cuz my friends dont like this sort of music.

Almost anything is worth at least a d/l...almost nothing is worth buying.

2 or 3 recommended songs like 21, flinch & so unsexy, mostly tho it's 'whiny complaint' rock. and while nobody whines quite like alanis (narcissus), this should've come out 6 mos after pill, it would've fit the alanis zeitgeist perfectly. it feels a bit tired now and almost as if she's “doing” alanis (which, come to think of it, she is). alanis fans will flock to buy of course. for the rest it's strictly d/l.

- js.

btw, it's a great idea gdj.

Jack said more or less exactly what I was going to say. Nothing is sadder, more obvious or more embarrassing than when an artist tries to copy their own previous successes. And I personally feel, as a matter of taste, that she had too little original substance to begin with to make this a feasible attempt.

I suggest that her next album should be titled Back To The Coffee House.

Or should she really return to her roots, and go slick pop, like her first two Canadian only albums or "Star Search"?

I do have to give her a little credit though...she did drop Glen Ballard as her producer and did it her self. I appreciate when an artist tries to control their own work.
