Interesting thing I discovered when I was trying this out. It seems that it doesn't work when I do it in the Morpheus folder, but when I create a shortcut of the sig2dat to the desktop...it works. I'm currently using ME and I don't know if you guys have the same problem. Anyhow, this makes it even easier for people to use this program. At least the sig2dat tool.

For the dbb2dat tool, one thing you can do to make it easier to use is if you can somehow make DOS go right to the directory where Morpheus is installed. Rather then people having to manually find it and then typing it again and again everytime they use it. What I really like about the sig2dat tool is that you can just double click the icon and it gets you right there. I don't know anything about programming but can you make dbb2dat do the same thing, or does that require GUI knowledge?

The sig2dat tool is actually not that hard to use. All people have to do is copy and paste and press enter, and of course if the drag and drop feature works for everyone then it's even easier. The dbb2dat tool is what needs to be worked on. That's just my opinion.

One question I need to ask you though, is on how to change the location of where my downloads go when they are done. The default is c:\StartfileDownload, but I want them to go into "my shared folder". Basically, in the sig2dat.ini file do I have to type c:\program files\morpheus\my shared folder, or can I just type :.\my shared folder? Is it case sensitive too??

I think that most users put their downloads into their "my shared folder" so making them change it manually might be asking for errors and confusion. Maybe you should have it placed them there as a default? Indy, what are your thoughts on this subject. I'm just trying to give you some more feedback since you don't have too many beta testers.

Maybe enter it as .\MYSHAR~1? I am trying this right now to see...

Since I have been trying all of these various "startfiles" I now have numerous d/l folders on my system:

C:\Museekster

C:\Program Files\Morpheus\My Shared Folder (98 system drive)

C:\StartfileDownload

C:\Startfiles

D:\My Music - Shared (my default)

Not to mention:

F:\Program Files\Morpheus\My Shared Folder (XP system drive)

A bit confusing, what?

To make dos propt start in any dir you wish:
copy dos prompt short cut to desktop
go properties
the file is COMMAND.COM
change working dir to desired dir(eg.D:\Program Files\Morpheus\My Shared Folder)
this worked ok for me
it should start there
apply
run

hey does any body know
of the SWAT SAMBA configurator in linux?
its some thing that runs in mozila/netscape
for configuering the very lengthy samba file
witch is for your local network(shares,workgroup...ect)
this (i am only pisssing in the wind but....)
type of thing may work as a simple gui for this idea
does any body know what i am talking about here
i am finding it a bit hard to get across
-multi
um i will have another go at it here
have somewhere online a database of sigs that you can search
and contribute to as well-(approved members only)
on the page you could have buttons witch(acting like shortcuts)
run the reqired file (sig2ordbb2dat) in a designated folder
which could apply the sig to the dbb
have in big letters :
DO NOT HAVE MoRPHEUS RUNNING WHILE ON THIS SITE
(or your box will crash)
just an idea

That would be a nice feature to have buttons on a webpage that will run the files for you. I never thought about a webpage GUI Now only if we can get someone who knows how to do it. Also, just to let you know, I am waiting until indy thinks the program is ready to be "released" to the public. When he does I'm going to also add the signature numbers to my website at Morpheus Info. I can't provide startfiles for downloading, but if you want to create a website that hosts startfiles then I will definitely link to it.

Right now Kewbase's site (MuSeekster) is starting to get a collection of startfiles going. Startfiles is starting to look like the future of downloading on Morpheus. When a lot more people learn how to make startfiles they won't even need websites to host and download them. All they have to do is make them and trade them through AIM, ICQ, etc. They are small enough to even email to your friends. This way everyone can effective help share correct files...or maybe I'm just dreaming
