yayaya wouldn't i be wonderful ...

wouldn't it be wonderful, if you read something like this

File: <surprise.mp3>
Length: 5845871 Bytes
Signature: d4-b0-d8-90-70-e5-eb-93-a9-ad-5c-f7-ef-13-75-55-2a-3d-6f-4d

anywhere on the web and have a little tool, let's say

sig2dat 1.0.a (Signature to Dat) 2002 by Indy

where you enter this parms, restart Morph and download exactly
that file. (filename and size are not even significant)
if you want this tool - pm me your e-mail - (its to big to be attached here)

wonder, who's the first, who knows what "surprise.mp3" is?

just found a home for my tools (don't know how long it lasts)

a VLAIBB (very lonesome artificial intelligence brained bubble) gave
me some of it's valuable web space.

you find it at

http://vlaibb.esmartweb.com/

just try it and tell me, what you think.

@multi -
a GUI would be great a thing, but i'm a "script" guy. started programming
with computers, where one had to enter boot loader manually using switch
registers - i'm afraid i will not make it to GUIs anymore

but anyway, if you get skilled enough to make a GUI, i will provide you with
any info i can give.

at

http://vlaibb.esmartweb.com/

unfortunately the provider doesn't allow zip's - only gifs.
but VLAIBB found a way and just made them not "zipped" gif's
but vice versa "giffed" zips (bet how long it last till he checks?)

since you must do the following
rightclick on file - say download - and when the dl menu pops up
just strip off the .gif extension

thanks a lot multi - want to ask a second favour from you
could d/l sig2dat from http://vlaibb.esmartweb.com/ and place
on your morphia too.
then there is a backup access, when one is cancelled, and the toolset
is complete:

... dbb2dat ... make startfiles and signaturefiles from dbb for purpose of others

... sig2dat ... make startfiles from signatures for own purpose

File: <dbb2dat.zip>
Length: 352110 Bytes
Signature: 8f-b2-48-99-ec-2e-ab-8d-36-ff-ee-40-6b-75-74-2b-8c-c9-ef-22

File: <sig2dat1.0.a.zip>
Length: 350473 Bytes
Signature: 65-a1-30-74-2b-f7-2e-bd-87-1b-50-56-d5-d6-81-06-f5-29-8e-ab

thats the way it works definitely

Hey Indy, I feel bad about not being able to help you when you first came to me about startfiles. If you want I can create a new website just for your test dat files. I can't place them on my site because I'm already reaching my data transfer limit just from people browsing.

Anyhow, if it doesn't work out at multi's site then let me know. If you keep it as basic as the vliabb site then I should have time to update it after work, school, and working on my site. I don't want your efforts to do wasted.

hey johndoe,

don't bother yourself with that anymore - you have done so much

- just lets think of an other aspect

the signature identifys a file like a fingerprint a human.
no fake file has a good chance to have the same sig

hows about the idea, just to place the sig along with the filesize on your
movie listing

with my sig2dat - everybody can just type it in and make himself a startfile
which will download the exactly correct file.

no download of any files necessary for this
