Already using it here. Looks and works the same. I get more initial connections, and faster, so hopefully searching will be a bit better.

Wished I hadn't drunk so much something had to give

Hope all your ferrets are well - take care - JONNO

I had not not downloaded any music, movies, programs or anything in quite a while and I had some friends over last night and we were dying to listen to some Lynyrd Skynyrd ...I had a lot of thier top stuff, but many tunes I didn't have.

So I go to my old proggies and find most had either died or gone on the fritz.

IMesh kept having popups that would close the whole program out making it impossible. (PopUp Killer didn't help) I kept trying to type it in really really fast, hit search and download ...LOL...that was a site. Popped out on me everytime.

Napigator seems to have completely died. It was my favorite because it would connect to all the open nap servers (and independent servers or whatever) and I'd use any one of my old Napster programs to connect to one of them and download just about anything. It would make a huge long list of those servers ...it no longer does. I also used FastSearch by suxxx ...who also seems to have died. That proggie used the same open nap list of servers as Napigator. There have been some problems with my computer latley... (infested with unremovable worms ...probably gonna have to reformat ...major job transferring gigs of stuff to CD ...ug!)...so maybe that's part of the problem.

Anyway... I remembered this thread by Heathcliff and so downloaded WinMX 3.53 last night while my friends were here and immediatly got 320 bitrate songs and Lynyrd Skynyrd - Box Set (3 CD's) ...the last of which is coming in now.

It's a good program and worked for me last night and today ...but I'm not through checking out this P2P-Zone and posts like this and threads like this .

I'll get there.

WinMX connects to opennaps in addition to it's own network.

Default WinMX & LeecHammer

Just popped in after being away for a while. Never used WinMX but thought I would give it a whirl with new edition but never heard of LeecHammer. Went to site to check on it but would appreciate more info. Is it a must if I have WinMX & what does it exactly do?

Basically put, LeecHammer controls your upload que. It keeps people who don't share from DL off ya.

I don't know about this LeecHammer stuff ...but in my ignorance and inexperience of these things, I somehow screwed up my configuration when I setup WinMX last night so that I can download from everybody but nobody can download from me!

This might not be such a bad setup...huh?...LOL ...ooooh, I should be spanked. That is bad p2p etiquette isn't it? TankGirl is gonna come in here with her whip and my butt is gonna be tingling for days.

Well, it's not my fault ...I don't know what I did ...but I must admit, it's been nice to download at top speed without a few hundred leeches slowing everything down to a snails pace. My uploads time out everytime while I merrily download away...lol... ...did I say that?

I know that's not right 'cause I want to share ...so I'm going to fix it as soon as possible! ...next year.

Seriously...I will fix it if I can figure out what the problem is.

Click here to see if NAT is a problem

Bottom line is, if you cant ul, its an issue with your UDP port.

Either firewall, router or isp, those are 99.8% of the culprits.

If you're not exagerrating here then you should set your upload queuing limit to 5 or less.

multi remarked: maybe if you get leech hammer you can hammer yourself...
Then ... I could get hammered!

I thought perhaps the problem was here:

Or perhaps here:

Then figured the problem was somewhere in my system ...perhaps here:

Thanks Vladd44 ...it was not a NAT thing ...no firewall here either ...but you were right, it's a port problem. I've had a port problem for a few years (after installing a new CDRW) that allows no sound in DOS games that I can't figure out to save my life.

albed ...hmmm ...good idea!

Thanks guys ...I'll lick both problems one way or another!
