Default DC++ hub shut down?

It would seem that the foremost DC++ hub at a major University (One of the only ways left to share files on college campuses), has been shut down. There are rumors flying around that the administrator was arrested and some of the major sharers where fined. The interesting thing is that this was one of the "secret" hubs, the address of which is not given to employees of the Universities IT department, which means that the hub was actively searched out before being shut down. Just wondering has anything like this happened in other Universities, where the school actively seeks out the administrator behind the hub and takes widespread action like this?

EDIT: Also could this be a trend that other universities will follow in the future?

No there isn't a story yet, not even in our schools paper...which is kind of weird to me the hub IS down, as fro what happened to the people running it and the major sharers its all rumors flying around campus and on some of the smaller hubs. It's UCONN btw. If I see a story in the campus paper or online ill post a link or quote.

uconn has been threatening to shut down, block or otherwise disable peer-to-peer programs for months. this was not supposed to affect internal campus networks like hubs however. calling it a bandwidth crisis they stated as early as this past spring they'd prevent access to all off campus p2p sites in the fall and there are sophisticated programs available to IT depts that can do that. anyone wishing to access their favorite external p2p network for a few hours will have to get permission from the university, and no doubt the administration will want to know why.

so much for academic freedom.

there is nothing in the news about any file-sharing arrests at uconn at this time.

The reason the Hub at uconn was shut down was because some guy posted the address for the hub on facebook. The guy running the hub didnt appreciate that(and for good reason). So he found out about the page with the dc++ addy on it and told the guy to take the page on facebook down or dc++ goes offline. The guy didnt take the page down like he asked so dc++ was shut down 10 minutes later. As for arrest I dont know where that whole thing came from. thats the 1st time I heard of that.
