been using protowall for a few months
and it seems exelent imo

find the guardingp2p file
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tim.leonard1/guarding.p2p
and update the list when you need to use it..i just open the one in the protowall folder with notepad and overwrite the old list with contents of the new one (i hope you are not ment to add the new ips..
maybe someone can tell me if this is right or not )

napho, what was the app that could check mp3s on the fly as you downloaded them ?
(you mentioned it not long ago ,but i just woke up and cant think)anyway..something like that bult into a fastrack client would be handy..

We just get into habits. I started downloading the file into the same place everytime and overwriting the old one, then loading it from within the program. The way you do it is fine too. Some ppl open torrents directly while others save them on the desktop.

i let Protowall do auto-update, but for some reason, it overwrote the old file with only the update additions...i went from 2 zillion ip's loaded down to like nine ip's, after the autoupdate needless, to say, i went back and reloaded manually...

how often do you guys update?

That sounds like you didn't get the ip's, just a message that tells you where to get the real file. Maybe the bluetrack site ran out of bandwidth and directs you to a mirror.

so riddle me this...my previous IP table (which i think i got via Block List Manager) contains some 2 billion IP addresses...the one you linked has some 94 million IP addresses. big difference, but the new one with less addresses has more ranges - is less more? how do you know which is the most recent and complete?

You can update your ip file with a program called The Blocklist Manager (also available at Bluetack.) PW and BLM are an unbeatable pair, IMHO!

thanks JT

welcome to forum..

i will check that out (i have seen peeps talking about it on some p2p forum some where)

knife: i update my list everytime i do a new ed2k session...

its been interesting to surf different sites..and check out all the different adservers..ect trying to log my cookie
or what ever it is they do.. when ever i see certain ads...
imagine how well the web would work with out all this crap..

when ever it hits one of these fast/doubleclick,redsheriff..ect bullshit
it slows the loading of that page right down..so can be a bit of a drag..sometimes you have to stop PW
to see some pages at all..
so i have sort of given up leaving it on all the time when i am being mr. standard pedestrian netsurfer..
only use it now by nights when i am the evil file swapping malcontent..

yep, it's interesting what gets blocked and what doesn't - i wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about how various ip schemes get selected for the honor of being added to the list....

fr'instance, the pics from vwguy's site get blocked when i load this thread - wonder how he and/or his site host made the list?
