Default So is appeasement really the way to go?

German President assassination foiled

BERLIN (Reuters) - German President Johannes Rau has cancelled a planned visit to Djibouti after German security services warned him of an assassination plot, his office says.

The statement said the security services had received information that an Islamist group planned to kill him during a visit to the Horn of Africa state to meet German troops stationed there.

The decision to cancel the visit comes amid heightened security fears following the recent train bombings in Madrid by a group suspected to be linked to al Qaeda.

"In the judgement of the services responsible, there was a considerable and concrete personal risk to the President," the president's office said.
so...considering both the German's and the French both opted for appeasement instead of action when it comes to dealing with terror, yet both are being targeted by islamofascists, wouldn't it be safe to say that appeasement is a failed policy when it comes to terrorism?

i hope not - since appeasment happens to be our strategy in North Korea, we'd all better hope it works

North Korea has Nuclear weapons, because of this it changes the game. You really want to send America troops into North Korea?

nope - just making the point that appeasement and containment are relative political concepts that are scarcely distinguishable from one another (much like freedom fighters and terrorists).

I hate to toot our collective horn, but how many attacks have their been on US soil since 9/11?

From the 9/11 commission testimony there have been several thwarted since then.

I think thats something to be proud of.

Wouldn't you "claim" the same thing, if you were a Korean official, after seeing what happened to Iraq???

and hence the reason for the * * around claim, since Lil Kim won't let anyone in to investigate you have to take him at his demented word.
