one-stop-shop for P2P add-ons/hacks?
I've seen a lot of P2P-related stuff spread out all over the place, but was wondering if there was one page that linked to all the useful plug-ins/bots/hacks/tips/sites for the various P2P clients, e.g. eDonkey Bot, ShareReactor.com for eDonkey;
FastTrackMovies, sig2dat, MorpheusX, spyware-free install, reg zips etc for FastTrack clients As I haven't found one yet, I suspect there's no such page. If one of you well-experienced NU folks put together a page linking to all these possible 'add-ons', with a brief description and opinion, you'd make this newbie very happy (as well as less tired from all that searching and adding thirty different pages to Favorites) Edited to get rid of that dum pokesmiley. Hey Napho,
liked your idea of posting back-up copies of P2P hacks in Y! Briefcase so much, I'm stealing it. http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/notebo...view=l&.last=1 Twinspan PS: Y! just changed their rules, you now have to have a Y ID & be logged in to access someone's briefcase. But getting one's free.

-- I cannot access the files in your briefcases (maybe you haven't checked public access)
-- another method for clean Groskster install - do it all manually:

sorry, I posted the url for the entire briefcase (which I can't seem to share) instead of the Url for the My Documents folder, which is shared. Try this url. EDIT: hell, that doesn't work either now. When I look at it logged in as that user, it says this folder is shared with everyone. When I use a different id, it says it's empty. And it says that now for Napho's briefcase too. WTF is going on? |

I'm getting the exact same thing as MIUF.
in File Folders list, My Documents shown, with 12 items available. in My Documents, 'this folder is currently empty'. Any ideas how to defeat this? Or another recommended (publicly-accessible) storage site for these kinds of files? _____________________________________ Now say it! Say I'm talented! |

Yahoo photo, storage services black out
By Jim Hu Staff Writer, CNET News.com March 26, 2002, 10:55 AM PT update An outage at Yahoo's online photo and data storage services has left some of its customers in the dark since Monday night, the company confirmed. As early as Monday night, some visitors to Yahoo Photos and Yahoo Briefcase were greeted with a message saying, "The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties." A reader reported the outage to CNET News.com early Tuesday. As of midmorning, both sites remained inaccessible to some visitors. "As of last night, Yahoo Photos and Briefcase were inaccessible to a small percentage of users due to software-related issues," a Yahoo representative said Tuesday. "We have identified the issue and corrected it." The representative added that no user data was lost during the outage. The outage is the latest in a series of incidents that have affected the accessibility of Yahoo's Web-based services. Last week, a software glitch caused a 45-minute outage that affected areas including its home page, Yahoo Mail and its My Yahoo personalization service. Two weeks earlier, Yahoo's e-mail discussion list community Yahoo Groups also suffered from an outage that lasted nearly a day and prevented millions of people from receiving their e-mail. Yahoo blamed the problem on a hardware glitch. |

Thanks for the article, Jack.
I'm pretty sure this is more than just an 'outage' as they call it. There are two (possibly related) problems: Firstly, this issue of reaching the published briefcase, to be told in My Documents window that the Shared folder does have items, then in the Shared window itself that it's empty. This has been the case continually since the service change on the 25th. (If only it had been for 45 mins!). And it's not a problem of allowing access (as I have checked and re-checked that the folder is shared with 'Everyone'), as it worked fine with alternate Y! IDs before Monday. Secondly, can't create links to anything inside a Y! BC now, only the BC itself, as the urls for stored files are now 'dynamic' changing according to user ID. So now nobody can get a file either by browsing thru the BC (which will say it's empty) or by direct linking. A real pisser as I hoping to create a quick free 'virtual' website (entirely inside the briefcase, I've done it before) where people could get this stuff. Oh well, I'll just have to try it somewhere else, but I don't really know any other free storage site that allows d/ling of files by other users (or the general public). Except for Streamload, and they only allow multimedia. Twinspan |

Here's a free email site that gives you a 20mb folder. If you can't left click and dl maybe right click/save as works.
