Lee Dembart International Herald Tribune Monday, April 22, 2002

PARIS If you are a typical Internet user, chances are your computer is spying on you. Do you, perhaps, use Kazaa or BearShare or Morpheus [now Grokster - js.] to download music files for free? Those big file-sharing services put little pieces of spyware on your hard drive that keep track of your activities on the Internet and report them to advertisers, who then send you pop-up or pop-under ads tailored to you.
