That's pretty slick, and $20 bucks isn't a bad price either.

Sony used to sell a pair of wireless headphones that could make you hear five individual speakers using some kind of psychoacoustics model. The headphones would recieve an AC3 stream and modulate each channel before downmixing them into a stereo signal that tricks you into hearing surround sound. I don't know if they still make them because they were so expensive. But this AC3 Decoder program looks like it does the same thing those headphones did.

I thought I had seen some bitrates recently above 320? So maybe it wasn't a glitch. Interesting stuff.

I think releasing all new albums as DVD's mixed for 5.1 setups with music videos and live performance included is the future of the compact disk. With promotional materials, etc, I'd gladly pay $25-$30 for the latest album by my favorite act. and the idea of albums being mixed specifically for 5 speakers is exciting to me.

Brows Changes needed on OPennap servers

I too have seen these 440k bit rate files in searches, however a lot of servers are actively rejecting not only odd bit rate files from VBR encodes, but anything over 320k, so it seems there maybe some revisions needed in the default settings.

I regularily get some of my shares rejected by a number of servers for invalid bitrates, indeed the PommieNet servers which I am involved with does just that, it seems to be a hard coded feature at least it is in the binary file, maybe we need to look at the source code, wish I understood Delphi? to seek a cure, or rather a widening of specifications.

Untill such times there is always the Wrapster option as mentioned in another thread or just Zip the files up.

Snark...
