Kazaa, the p2p application used by thousands of unfortunate RIAA sue 'em all victims, may be getting a new lease on life.

KaZaA was created by Nikolas Zennström and Janus Friis and quickly became famous as a way for people to share files online - so much so that it was scarfed up by Australia's Sharman Networks and loaded with privacy and security threatening spyware and adware to become a mockery of what it once was.

It's been sliding downhill ever since and no one with any knowledge of p2p or p2p applications would touch it with a barge-pole.

In the meanwhile, Zennström is one of the main men behind Skype, the free p2p online phone application and now, it seems, he's gone full circle.

Kazaa v3.0 launched today. And it includes Skype.

Whether or not that'll be enough to drag Kazaa out of the mire remains to be seen. But it's doubtful.
