Mediaseek back online...Now with GAIN!!

It appears that Mediaseek is back online, although the users and content are scarce. A search for 'Madonna' revealed only 15 results : only 6 of which were marked with green icons (not quite sure what that means though! )

Mediaseek never really impressed me, because it tries to emulate the once-great AudioGalaxy yet it fails to include AG's greatest feature! AG was so reliable due to its centralised index/database of files shared within a 30-day period. This made set-it-and-forget-it downloads of rare materials relatively painless. Mediaseek only returns results for files currently being shared on the network, like with the clients on most modern decentralised networks.

The network is centralised like AG, yet its Polish locale makes it somewhat immune to the RIAA and U.S. copyright law. If you thought the AGSatellite was bare-boned and featureless, then you'll be even more disappointed in the MS client! Plus the community features that made AG so vibrant are lacking.

On the plus side, the familiar web-based interface and lightweight client could be welcomed by many AG refugees. It remains to be seen whether this network can be as successful as AG was, and whether it really will be immune from future RIAA actions if that is the case.
