Thumbs down UTC forums down but not out....

Although UTC's banishment was only temporary, it clearly demonstrates Grokster's motivation to eliminate all copies of Clean Grokster. However, UTC's is back online, with Clean Grokster once again available. Here's UTC's news release regarding the issue:

Friends at Slyck.com

I am sending you this on behalf of Unite, head administrator at unitethecows.com. This afternoon, our host (hosttyme.com) kicked us off because we were hosting Dr. Damn's clean Grokster. This is a small setback that is just a bump in the road for us. We plan on being back up and running in a day or so, or as soon as it takes the worlds DNS to refresh. We will be on a new host! Pass this word along to all who love and practice file-sharing, that we may rally the troops against the those who are attempting to infringe upon our freedom. Long live free file-sharing!

Roadblock
UTC Administrator

Good Luck UTC
thanx again slyk

/me thinks this place will get swamped
if a big community like that goes down for good...

That Grokster thing happened ages ago. Glad to see you figured it out!

I haven't been able to connect since late yesterday either. I thought it was because I'd just switched to Opera, so I tried accessing the site via I.E. (bleahhh!! ) and no luck! Yesterday my connection went dead for about 2 hours and I could only access local (.co.za) sites. My ISP must have been refreshing the DNS or something, because everything works now. Except UTC! Glad I'm not the only one having problems. Or am I?

I heard a rumour that the moderators at UTC are on strike.
They're holding out for the same salary and fringe benefits as the mods here at .net.

UTC can never afford similar benefits as we have, including 10 kg Marmite a month per mod.

DEAD AGAIN !
ah well that looks like that for UTC
sorry to bore u all with this...but i was just starting to enjoy that place..check the slyck forum thread i posted above
theres a few new comments about it if u are interested...
the sad death notice

Hello UTC members. First, I want to apologize for not giving you guys more notice on my decision to shut down the site. I know that many of you spend a lot of time on there and have developed many relationships. Things just came to a bit of an impass over this past weekend with the site being shutdown which in turn caused me to have to spend a great deal of my weekend trying to fix the problem. As you all know, the intention of handing the site over to Intimidated was for me to be able to step back a lot and spend more time with my family, but I realized this weekend that is going to be very difficult. I just cannot achieve the distance that I want and time that I want if I keep the site up and running. I hope that most of you understand, I know that many do not, but please understand that my personal life with my future wife and my children is the most important thing to me.

In order to preserve all the membership information, I am, as I said earlier, handing over the database to Slyck.com. It was not my intention this morning to delete UTC's members or the relationships that have developed. I hope that in turing the database over, fellow UTC'ers will be able to continue with the fellowship that began at UnitettheCows. Please forgive my abrupt message this morning and know that I have and continue to appreciate all the support that our members have given this site. I wish you all the best - keep grazing!

A special thanks to www.slyck.com and all of the UTC admin for all the support and help they have given.

Cool UTC@Slyck.com

This message is now on the UTC website...
Just down and not out? Hope they can keep it going...

Hello UTC members. I have some great news... Tom and Ray over at Slyck.com have offered to keep UTC alive. They volunteered to host & maintain the site. Everything will remain as is; all admin and master accounts will stay in place however, the owners will now be Slyck.com. Tom and Ray have vowed to keep the site for you, the members. I will help when I can with future updates, and check on everything. Please be patient for about the next week as it will take that long transfer everything to Slyck's servers and help set UTC back up. In the mean time stop by and show your support to UTC's new owners Tom & Ray, they deserve it for taking on such a huge task As always, take care and keep grazing.

Thumbs up

UTC is up again. They had to restore from an old database so all registrations and content between 2 July 2002 and early September are lost. But the Psychedelic Cow is bellowing again.
