its more like a loudness normalizer because it normalizes rms levels instead of peak amplitude. this is truly the tool to use if you want your music to be equally loud and save the hassle of passing everything through a digital editor

although it helps you achieve the 83dB SPL standard, imho this is way too low for some types types of music. we do live the digital age after all

is this the sort of tool that any novice user really needs??????

would you recommend it for everyone???????

and..........is it easy to use???????????

imho- yes
99% of mp3s out there clip and this tool can eliminate the distortion caused by clipping (thats because clipping is introduced by the decoder). it can also make sure your tracks are equally loud

all you do is open your mp3 files in mp3gain, let the program scan the levels, and then it recommends the proper gain that needs to be applied so that all your tracks will have the same perceived loudness

you can just download the "exe install version" nanook

it will install the replay gain executable and install and setup the gui frontend

it is in winrar and i can't open it up.
i tried extracting it, but it keeps saying the install isn't complete.

hi nanook... sorry for the late reply

use winzip to unzip it. make sure the transfer actually completes. if the download was cut off in the middle winzip wont be able to unzip the archive

so first try unzipping it with winzip instead of winrar. if that doesn't correct it, download the file again and just use winzip to unzip
