Use the select tool to select the white background. If it doesn't select the whole background, decrease its tolerance in options, and/or use contrast to lighten it to a uniform shade. Once the background is selected, go to the selection menu and choose "select inverse." Copy the image. Go to file/new and photoshop will already have the document size to match the selected and copied image. Choose "transparent" background. Paste the image to the new document. Go to file/export and save the image as a gif.

Right. Make sure the background is all ONE colour (ie, make sure there are not like 2 shades of white there).

Then, go to "File", "Save", and select "GIF".

Select "Options", "Run Optimiser".

In the first tab, select the LAST option and make sure that tolerance is set to "0". Then, click on your image in the background, on the bit you want to be transparent.

check all the other options as you want, then save the image!

Dave!!
