This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.

“It was kind of disgusting,” Lucille, who is part Aboriginal, said in a phone interview after admitting that she is frightened of being discovered telling folks in the “lower 48” about life near the North Pole.

Then, almost with a sigh, she added, “But that’s just Alaska.”

Racial and ethnic slurs may be “just Alaska” and, clearly, they are common, everyday chatter for Palin.

Besides insulting Obama with a Step-N’-Fetch-It, “darkie musical” swipe, people who know her say she refers regularly to Alaska’s Aboriginal people as “Arctic Arabs” – how efficient, lumping two apparently undesirable groups into one ugly description – as well as the more colourful “mukluks” along with the totally unimaginative “f**king Eskimo’s,” according to a number of Alaskans and Wasillians interviewed for this article.

Exploiting 9/11?

Sarah Palin on Wednesday:

It's a touching story of patriotism inspired by the 9/11 attacks, except according the New York Daily News, it turns out not to be entirely true -- her son is actually deploying on September 12, not September 11.

Of course, there is no need to embellish her son's honorable decision to serve this country, and nothing that Sarah Palin can say can cheapen that. But if the Daily News story is accurate, it says something pathetic about her character.

Are people not sick of the crassness? The pandering? The lies?

Does the GOP have anything else?

maybe i should get a list from Elisabeth Bumiller, the "unbiased" reporter you leaned on for your AIP rant. the source retracts her statement, yet Bumiller is "completely confident about the story". is she taking reporting lessons from Dan Rather?

Bumiller Stands By Her Story...After Paper Retracts

Yesterday the New York Times ran a front-page story by Elisabeth Bumiller that was riddled with factual errors. Among them was the assertion by Bumiller that Governor Palin "was a member for two years in the 1990s of the Alaska Independence Party." There was no evidence offered to support this statement, and as this campaign pointed out, it is untrue. Now the Times reports:
The information in the Times article was based on a statement issued Monday night by Lynette Clark, the party’s chairwoman, who said that Ms. Palin joined the party in 1994 and in 1996 changed her registration to Republican.

On Tuesday night, Ms. Clark said that her initial statement was incorrect and had been based on erroneous information provided by another member of the party whom she declined to identify.
Just to be clear, Bumiller asserted as fact what turns out to have been an "incorrect" statement by a single, unidentified source. Given that the story appeared on the front-page of this country's 'paper of record,' we might be forgiven for expecting a slightly more rigorous standard of reporting, yet Bumiller makes no apologies. Howard Kurtz reports in today's Washington Post:
Elisabeth Bumiller, the lead author of the Times report, said she is "completely confident about the story." As for the campaign's criticism, she said: "This is what they do. It's part of their operation."
She is completely confident in the word of a single source who has since retracted her claims? What kind of operation are the editors at the Times running?

Oh aye, because attending the convention several times over the years and addressing your support of them, while your husband is a member, doesn't mean you agree with them.

But had Michelle Obama attended so much as one pro-'Black Panther' or pro-'Communism' group in College then the Republicans would be on it like stink on shit and calling Barack Obama a Black Militant.

Contrast how the Republicans cast Rev Wright on Obama for the things he said while Obama wasn't there to how they ignore what Palin's reverend said while she was there. Stark difference.

Anatomy of a Smear - Who are Dick and Sharon Price?

Two members of Barack of Obama’s campaign, Dick and Sharon Price, created a post today on their “LA Progressive” blog that accuses Sarah Palin of using the name “Sambo” to describe Barack Obama.

Aside from the fact that this constitutes slander, for there is absolutely no evidence - sources, etc, there is more to the story about “Dick and Sharon”. First, their blog only came into being on 10 March 2008 according to whois records.

This is about the time that several satellite Pro-Obama blogs began to appear around the internet, several of which were found to be funded by the Obama campaign. Most likely this rag is funded by the Obama campaign as well.

Secondly, according to sources they are bona-fide Democrat political operatives that are known for planting such slanderous stories about opposition candidate going back for a while now.

The source called them “assassins”.

The fact that the story wasn’t designed to do anything but get the story into Google search engines tells you much of the type of characters these two are - bottom feeders and just what kind of people support Barack Obama.

If it is then it is, and that's fine. But until someone tracks down this 'Lucille' and finds out, we'll not actually know.

I don't mind her not being racist, she's too many other things, proven things, for me to be concerned that she looks down on people of color: she looks down on everyone.
