Smile napster

Is there any ebooks or websites about the history of napster? If there is can please someone tell me where I can get them. By the way before roxio bought napster wasnt napster a pay site anyways after they got in trouble.

la times reporter joseph menn did a book. came out s few months ago.

i copped a copy from the library. kinda slow going but it fills in a lot of details, especially about the business aspects.
it's called "all the rave: the rise and fall of shawn fanning's napster."

not really sure what your asking here..hamzie

old napster maybe will connect to a few openap servers (if they are still around?)
so its pretty much a lost cause i think..

if you want to know about napster 2.0
i think you questions maybe better addressed in their forum...
(maybe sharpen up the way you put you questions a little )
its basicly an iTunes clone as far as i know with DRM files of dubious quality..

as for changing the page that loads in these things when you start them..have a look around the options...
if theres nothing there.. there maybe somewhere in a .ini file to change it..

sometimes this URL is embedded in the program and you cant change it maybe..

ive done it. Get yourself a Hex Editor, and go through the code until you find the address for the page that comes up, then change it to whatever you want.

Make a backup copy of the exe file before you mod it

I wonder if the Napster Inc. in Boston is still around or does Roxio now own that? Could I write to the oringinal napster owners a.k.a the fanning family. It would be cool for a new napster to open up with a different word added on to napster so you dont get sued by roxio. I had some ideas but doubt they will work.
