Say Wha? Welcome to the SAM ADAMS FOR MAYOR Home Page

Quote:
he’s forward thinking, not afraid to employ the internet to stay in touch with his constituents. So as he pondered his mayoral run a few weeks ago, we bought two domain names for him:

samadamsformayor.com: (that he could use during his campaign)
and
mayorsamadams.com: (for use while he is in office)

Within weeks we received a cease and desist letter from Sam Adams Beer. Yes, beer. We are guessing the beer wants to run for mayor.

multi, is that the site of an actual mayoral candidate named sam adams?

if so the management of the BOSTON beer company are idiots. there's nothing original about either name. if they don't come to their senses i may have to boycott the brand.

they should be happy they didn't choose to call the brew washington beer. imagine thier postage bills on presidents' day.

Pretty vile stuff imo, lots of hops just dominate the taste. The right amount would be one sip.

The company makes 25 different beers, each has unique character:
11 regular
8 seasonal
6 special

It's a matter of individual preferences. I also do not prefer beers with a hops predominant taste (because it's bitter). I've only tried two of their beers (Boston Lager and Octoberfest) and they were okay by me. These two are the only ones stores around here seem to stock.

One of the special beers is called Utopias and its 25% alcohol. That should be interesting.

As for the Sam Adams domains, I don't think the beer company is going to be successful in it's challange. The mayoral candidate's name is Sam Adams.

If Sam Adams was around he would be drinking Keystone. $6/12 with CRV here in CA.

It's made by Coors (2nd label) and is CHEAP.

It seems that alot of beer drinkers are starting to turn into pretentious dillweeds like the winos.

That page no longer exists strangly enough..
the domain is still there but theres a new index page with no mention at all of this lawsuit.

maybe they decided it was bad press made a healthy contribution to the campaingn and asked him nicely not to mention it any more or something...or it was just a PR stunt on behalf of the mayor

edit:

no its still happening.. he must be just keeping it off his campaign pages

To date, The Boston Beer Company has not returned Mark and Dave’s phone calls. “We wanted to give them (The Boston Beer Company) a chance to join us at the hand-over party and apologize for not doing their due diligence to discover that there is indeed a Sam Adams running for Mayor in Portland Oregon before firing off before their nasty letter” says Dave Anderson. “In protest, we will not serve SAMUEL ADAMS® beer for the evening.

Instead, Mark & Dave will encourage guests to consume a special Mark & Dave First Amendment Ale which will be on sale at McCormick & Schmick’s Harborside at the Marina during the party and until the restaurant closes that evening. McCormick & Schmick’s will donate a portion of the proceeds from the Mark & Dave First Amendment Ale to the KEX Kids Fund.
