The California Declaration of Independence

A Petition for California's Secession from the Federal Government

"... Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just
powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form
of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right
of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new
Government, laying its foundation on such principles and
organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most
likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

Now is the time for California to grow up and take her rightful
place as an equal among all the world's great nations by becoming
her own separate country.

Never will California reach her own bright destiny while she
remains under the control of an uncaring and distant federal father
who is openly controlled by forces hostile to the sovereign
prosperity of Californians.

Should a federal government which uses California for her money,
which uses California for her resources, which uses California
for her technology, which uses California for her entertainments,
which abandoned California in her time of need -- should such
an institution control and rule California?

Only Californians can and should decide California's future.

Secession, after decades of federal misrule, is the only option
remaining for Californians.

Free California from the lumbering federal dinosaur and we
will see a bright new Californian civilization unlike anything
the world has ever seen.

i expect i'll see more of these proposals. red states with their home schools, their intelligent design, rapture and courts that base and enforce law on one mandatory religion, and new england with it's liberal politics, strong separation of church and state, freewheeling liberal sciences (and the wealth it generates) allied in a relaxed federation.

What do you mean?

CA is as liberal as they get. Nobody spends any engery (aka money) here because it's a Demo (donkey) lock, and has been for decades.

CA has more people living in the state than in all of Canada and over 10 times than Silvers beloved Anglophobic (can U spell racist?) Quebec.

What I mean is the US Constitution doesn't allow immigrants to be elected president no matter how long they've lived here. A lot of people figure that if a film actor like Reagan could go from being governor of California to become the US president then so could Arnold, but they'd be wrong. California's new constitution probably wouldn't have such a restriction. So if Arnold could be elected once as governor he could certainly be elected again as president of California. The dream is still alive!

What can I say Nic, you had a bad experience, that is all but I got to admit, dillweeds does that to us, call it a natural reaction against dillweedness.

I wonder why it is I keep seeing californian plates over here either in summer or winter, seems that not everyone share your Oh BOHOO, I had a bad experience while visiting Quebec/MONTREAL, grow up NIC, I was held at gun point last I visited NYC and I didn't start me on rambling how violent if not racist NY state can be. It was one incident and it didn't set my mind in stone over that.

Nic, you can only be racist against a race, I didn't know you considered your US citisenship as a "race" Now that's a first
