to burn dvd's you'd need a dvd burner and dvd cd's, which cost more than cdr's. like 5 for $25 or so. and the dvd burner is usually $200 - $400 or more. you can look on ebay for cheap ones. but to burn videos(mainly part videos, the crappier quality ones) you can burn them on cdr's(vcd's) but usually will take 2 cd's to burn, depends on how long the videos are. Nero Burning ROM is usually good for burning vcd's, but will need a dif. program to encode them into vcd mpeg format. i don't trust the Nero re-encoder, always screws mine up. i use MGI Video Wave to re-encode mine.

Period. They can all take their DRM, broadcast flags, rootkits, and Compact Discs that aren’t really compact discs and shove them up their bottom-lines.

fyi - there's an isp in washington state offering fiber optic to the home for $39.99 a month after a $150.00 set-up fee.

download speeds are 100Mbps - 75x faster than cable/dsl.

you can d/l an uncompressed 4 gig dvd in 8 minutes, a typical 700 meg avi in 75 seconds, a complete uncompressed .wav cd in under a minute and a full mp3 cd in 5 seconds.

nice.

unfortunately the service has serious restrictions for now like automatic cutoffs every 8 hours and a 5 gig monthly limit but still, that's some highspeed broadband kemosabe, and once they raise that absurd gig limit perfect for all you little dvd'ers.
