Puke Older BT client

Used to use BT alot.....haven't used it since i haven't been looking for certain *cough files *uncough lately.

Had no problem with older BT clients but now, for some reason transfers have a tendency to pause in midaction.

Have tried number of suggestions to cure but only one has gotten a different results.........an entire 2.5 hours without transfer freezing.

Would like to try an older BT client.............don't care what it is or who made it, long as it's stable and can get along with xp pro.

Suggestions?

TIA

I haven't used BT in awhile and when I did it wasn't all that much but I was using this http://www.novatorrent.com/ it seemed rather stable under my XP Pro......

If you find a real good one let me know I may give BT another try.

Thanx Aweshucks will give it a whirl.....

Was so mad when i posted i forgot to say that i've been through 2 newer versions of BT - Shadows and the original 3.3 and they're all flaky as hell here.

POC is 38% but needs constant babysitting - pita if ever i saw one.

thanx again....will let ya know.

BitComet is lighter on resources than most BT clients. It's worth a try.

Why BitComet?
Completely new core written in C++, stable and fast, very low CPU and RAM usage. (detail)
Multiple simultaneous downloads, ability to selected download in one torrent. (detail)
Intelligent resume and seeding, no long-time scanning at all. (detail)
UPnP Auto Port Mapping, no need to manually config NAT in most case. (detail)
Ability to limit the upload speed as well as download speed. (detail)
Simple-look but handy interface, no need to learn how to use at all.
Disk cache mechanism, decrease the potential damage to the hard disk when high-speed downloading. (detail)
Ability to add .bc! file extension for unfinished files.
Only one listening port is needed, no matter how many simultaneous downloads. (detail)
Support Muti-tracker torrent format, and utf-8 extension
Auto Update Checker. (detail)
Muti-Language supported. (detail)
No need to install, but install/uninstall packages are provided.

Thanx Napho, will try it!

I wonder why the older clients seem to perform better than the newer ones? It bothers some but not others...no one has come up with a solution that works with any reliablity.

Not just that, this problem happens to all systems regardless of processor speed, manufacturer, ram, or BT client.

just bloody odd.

I installed the Nova 2.0 and it's working very well...........so far.

Bad news....something very incompatible with my system and BT clients of all kinds.....

i'm throwing in the towel with BT.

options are such a good thing - too bad BT stopped being one of them.

I know a few folks that had torrent trouble like that. When all else fails, BT++ works:
http://btplusplus.sourceforge.net

It includes a windows installer, so it's hard to go wrong. Download here
