I just tried kazaa, the ads aren't blockable like morpheus's . I ran ad-aware, and I had it delete auerate and some other dlls. Of course kazaa won't run without auerate, and it wouldn't even uninstall without the dlls.

I'm certain Kazaa used cydoor's advertising component, not Radiate's (Aureate renamed to Radiate a while back). The Aureate dll must have come from some other program. Kazaa can be run without ads using a dummy dll, but I don't see the point in doing that unless you're determined to bankrupt the company. What so bad about a few ads?

I was still running RefoSearch until yesterdays shutdown & as it is based on Morpheus 1.3.3 It will no longer connect the same as Morpheus.

I had downloaded Grokster 1.5 back when they released it, so maybe now I'll give it a whirl...

Phateboard,

Heres an article I wrote on spyware awhile back.

http://www.gibboncore.demon.co.uk/ka...pywarehell.htm

I orignally had it on my site p2p tech, then somone embeded it in the kazaa forum, and now many sites around the net have been stealing it.

enjoy!

Oh, thanks for the link Ethen, there is that list of dll's you can look for, and the first one was a hit here. For me adware/spyware difference is still vague. They say on donkey webpage, that IF someone proves that Cydoor is spy, they'll remove it. (they have two copies now, onw with and on without Cydoor)

I got rid of something called domlst with adaware. Must be short for domainlist??? I also removed lwa3 from the registry. It's backed up but Grokster still works.

hello,

i was fine with the ads until they added the rapidly flashing one several months back that had a physical affect on me!...haven't had ads since.

can you just install grokster and go, or do you *have* to tweak it with morpheus already onboard?

i am currently on morph: 651,527 users online 465660GB seems to back to normal, shows search results from grokster and kazaa users.

You can get rid of the ad bar. Just replace the cd_clint.dll file with a dummy. It works for iMesh as well.

Napho, sorry for asking this stupid question, but how exactly does this replacing go? Should I place the .dll file in the kazaa folder?

In XP it's in the System 32 folder. If you have another OS just search for it.

Default ? for the Grokster users

Would you all be so kind as to do a search for OTRadio files for me, specifically: CBS Radio Mystery Theater, CBSRMT, CBS Radio Mystery Theatre episodes?

Let me know what you come up with........pretty please?

As always,

TIA

Edited to add that most of my otr files come from Music City users - no sense jumping the broomstick if there's nothing available .
