Default KaZaa 1.7 doubles the search results

by searching a whole new set of peers. Can't wait ...for KaZaaLite of course.

btw Has the registry tweak to increase search results worked for anyone? Regardless of what the # is in the program and reg the results max out at 140 or so.

Ain't tried any post 1.5.1 FT clients (thanks Dr. Damn & AYB & Indy) but...

i wish they'd just make the FT searches more fine tuneable (e.g. Boolean), instead of having to trawl thru even more duplicated results. like being able to search "sumsong -britney's tits".

I'd especially like more options in filtering search by file size (seeing as that's the only semi-reliable way of avoiding irrelevant results/fakes if you don't already have a Quick Link for a file).

<twinspan nudges AYB, Harby, giFT/OpenFT, anyone else making an FT-inspired filesharing proggie and acts like a spoilt-brat generally>

From the KaZaA lite mailing list

Quote:

I just found this out
----------------------------
On Monday 27th, Sharman Networks (owners of Kazaa Media Desktop) will release an upgrade to version 1.7.
We HIGHLY recommend that you do NOT download this update, until we have examined the update.
Word has it that it contains a distribution of AltNet, which I like to call "crapware".
It's a highly controversial piece of spyware which bears many of the same characteristics as Trojan software.
AltNet can completely take over your machine's resources - in fact it's possible for Brilliant Digital (the programmers)
to do virtually anything to your PC once this software has been installed.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

We will definitely release a full security report once we have examined the update.
In the meantime, stick with your Kazaa 1.6.1! It is fully functional.
-----------------------------

I will let you know about anymore info I have but I recommend you check the site for the next few days.

sure, "sumsong +j.lo's tits", "sumsong +alicia's tits" & "sumsong +mariah's tits" are a just a few of the many searches I'd like to run on FastTrack. FT is a much more diverse network than people give it credit for

Now that kaZaa has doubled the search results the registry tweak is working to some extent as well. I got 295 results for The Beatles.

Start/Run/regedit/CurrentUser/Software/client name/Advanced
then double click on max search results/decimal then change the # to about 400.
