Default Words Of Wisdom

Quote:
From Letters to the Editors @ Fort Worth Star-Telegram

How racism works

What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?

What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said "I do" to? What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?

What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization? What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?

What if Obama were a member of the "Keating 5"? What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?

If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and maximizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

Brilliant, direct and to the point!

You could cherry pick all of McCain's virtues and Obama's flaws to make the exact opposite argument. Words are powerful, empty things.

while you're waiting...

Double-standards gets Idiot's Elected in America.

Quote:
If you're a minority and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a 'token hire.'

If you're a conservative and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a 'game changer.'

Black teen pregnancies? A 'crisis' in black America .
White teen pregnancies? A 'blessed event.'

If you grow up in Hawaii you're 'exotic.'
Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you're the quintessential 'American story.'

Similarly, if you name you kid Barack you're 'unpatriotic.'
Name your kid Track, you're 'colorful.'

If you're a Democrat and you make a VP pick without fully vetting the individual you're 'reckless.' A Republican who doesn't fully vet is a 'maverick.'

If you spend 3 years as a community organizer growing your organization from a staff of 1 to 13 and your budget from $70,000 to $400,000, then become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new African Amerian voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, then spend nearly 8 more years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, becoming chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, then spend nearly 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of nearly 13 million people, sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you are woefully inexperienced.

If you spend 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, then spend 20 months as the governor of a state with 650,000 people, you've got the most executive experience of anyone on either ticket, are the Commander in Chief of the Alaska military and are well qualified to lead the nation should you be called upon to do so because your state is the closest state to Russia.

If you are a Democratic male candidate who is popular with millions of people you are an 'arrogant celebrity'. If you are a popular republican female candidate you are 'energizing the base'.

If you are a younger male candidate who thinks for himself and makes his own decisions you are 'presumptuous'. if you are an older male candidate who makes last minute decisions you refuse to explain, you are a 'shoot from the hip' maverick.

If you are a candidate with a Harvard law degree you are 'an elitist 'out of touch' with the real America . If you are a legacy (dad and granddad were admirals) graduate of Annapolis, graduating fifth from the bottom of your class, with multiple disciplinary infractions you are a hero.

If you manage a multi-million dollar nationwide campaign, you are an 'empty suit'. If you are a part time mayor of a town of 7000 people, you are an 'experienced executive'.

If you go to a south side Chicago church, your beliefs are 'extremist'.
If you believe in creationism and don't believe global warming is man made, you are 'strongly principled'.

If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.

If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years with whom you are raising 2 beautiful daughters you're 'risky'.

If you're a black single mother of 4 who waits for 22 hours after her water breaks to seek medical attention, you're an irresponsible parent, endangering the life of your unborn child, but if you're a white married mother who waits 22 hours, you're spunky.

If you're a 13-year-old Chelsea Clinton, the right-wing press calls you 'First dog.'

If you're a 17-year old pregnant unwed daughter of a Republican, the right-wing press calls you 'beautiful' and 'courageous.'

If you kill an endangered species, you're an excellent hunter.
If you have an abortion you're not a christian, you're a murderer ( forget about if it happen while being date raped)

If you teach abstinence only in sex education, you get teen parents.
If you teach responsible age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

"Words are powerful, empty things."? What is the point?

You're stating a truism but what is your meaning?

My meaning is that facts can be used to tell lies when presented in such a one sided manner. It's called rhetoric, and artful as it may be, it serves a sinister purpose. People should speak plainly, saying, "I'm not going to vote for McCain because I don't like him, and I don't think you should vote for him either, and here's why..." Brilliant as your Star-Telegram quote is, it is in fact indirect and pointless, not to mention truculent.

But the fact remains that if the tables were turned it would be all you would hear about. If Obama had a 16 yr old daughter who was knocked up it would be front page news. If Obama didn't know Sunni from Shi'ite it would be front page news. If Obama thought Iran was training Al Qaeda it would be front page news.

McCain said he didn't love America until he was a POW (he was a POW? Really? I hadn't heard..) and no one blinked an eye. Michelle Obama said '..for the first time in my adult life I'm really proud of my country' and everyone went apeshit and called her unpatriotic.

Obama didn't wear a flag pin because he knew it for what it was: a false sign of patriotism. He was called unpatriotic. McCain didn't wear one several times, including his acceptance speech as the Republican candidate for President. No one said a word.

It's the double standard and it's not just words to me.

Yes, that's right; you can't. You can only ever talk in short sentences and insult people.

I take it as a sign of your intelligence [sic] and that you don't actualy care about anything.

Yep... short and to the point is me.

As to smarts...

The proof is in the poodin' and I've already proved mine is tasty. Many have bought some.

Sorry diego (with a -), but U come off to me as a bitter person with an axe to grind. The people in this world owe you nothing. Me thinks you would have done more for global warming and our enviroment by having less babies. Peeps with more than 2 kids are the ultimate polluters.

(I'd love to hear u're answer to that)

Absofukinlutely!

Truth is you will never hear a truthful and honest answer, because this country and the world are full of lazy, worthless whiners like Diego that think the world owes them a pathetic life of sitting on their lazy asses doing nothing to earn the drug and alcohol abuse they desire, other than being the lifeless useless wastes of human flesh they are.

Yet with the very same exhaled breath of alcohol intoxicated pot smoke and what little energy it takes them to remove the used condom they just jacked off in to their favorite porn download they expect the *cough* corrupt governments they constantly whine and cry so much about to fund their drug, alcohol and porn habits by taxing anyone who dares work 60+ hours a week because these individuals "flawed values and morals" actually has them believing that if they want something in this life that they actually have to get off their asses and earn it.

Thats why the minute the Diego's of the world hear "I'm gonna take from the rich and give to the poor" they are on board in a heartbeat because it absolutely doesn't matter to them that they are "poor" by choice. They will never admit that they only have themselves to blame for their piss poor existance. They always have "the government" to blame for that.

I come off as bitter? Do the two of you have alternate personalities who post for you?

Lazy? Worthless? Whiners? Gee, you sound like John McCain!

*I* don't think the world owes me a damn thing and I support myself and my own. It's the rich who feel McCain owes them more tax breaks on the backs of the middle class. how's that working out? Not so great is it?

How's his deregulation working out? Another failure of the Republicans.

People are poor by choice? You're a 'class warfare' touter? lol! And guess what: you're middle class.

Funny how those who support the Republicans the most are the very ones getting fucked by their policies. Go you! lol
