Default Request for help (need information)

Family member who didn't want to listen to me is paying $5 a month to use WinMX.

Something about faster servers..... *shrug*

They are under the belief that since they are paying for the service it must be legal.

Can anyone point me at the web page that they would have found this on? No surprise the offical winmx.com page has nothing about this.

Help?

Thumbs up

There are numerous scam sites making money from ignorant people by selling p2p software that is available for free. They also seem to advertise that using their software is legal, which is interesting in relation to the present RIAA campaign.

Anyway, here are a couple of WinMX related sites. The monthly rate seems to be rather 1-2 $ than the 5 $ you mentioned.

This has been around since napster.

Here's a page from the internet archives from 2 years ago:

People find ways to make an easy buck with those who do not get the intraweb. Amazing but true.

Do not pay for p2p software. Period.

Every p2p client worth having is available for free, anything that costs is a scam. WinMX is free (and even better, spyware free), and for your own good you should always download it only from their own official website.

How about ".... I think it's 5 dollars a month to get access to this huge database of stuff..."

Now I remember why I stopped doing tech support for family members.

The search continues.

EDIT:
I think we have a winner!

Doubt they even understand what it is.
