Question Help with signatures?

I've tried understanding past posts about startfiles, sig2dat, signatures etc. Since I'm kinda tech-ignorant I didn't come far. I hope someone can help me with my problem.

The thing is this: I started to download some files on a public computer, using what I think was an old version of Kazaa, burnt the unfinished downloads and tried to continue downloading them on my own computer. Nothing happened, they didn't appear in my Kazaalite version 2.03. So I unchecked the read-only option, restarted K-lite: the files were deleted. Because I don't know what version of Kazaa the public computer used, I thought your Sig2dat/signature knowledge might provide an answer to my problem.
Please help me out.

Thank you.

It SOULD not matter which version of Kazaa...Kazaa-lite or Imesh you use as long as you make sure you copy them into the folder that the program is using as it's download folder
