No.
I meant that prior post made by you was devoid of even pseudo intellectuality.
Perhaps you were PWI?

You did quote Harry Reid you know, and he pretty much said he couldn't give two shits about increasing the minimum wage. He'd rather pass a non-binding anti-war resolution, one which will give the front runner for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination a chance to go on record. theknife's amateur, uninformed diagnosis of my mental pathology not withstanding, I was simply probing the Dems' motives. I mean, they know they can't stop the surge or even postpone it, they can't change the president's strategy, they can't even alter public opinion. So the pending resolution is a purely political move, and the timing is likely not a coincidence. They're playing a long game and the prize is a Democrat, any Democrat, in the White House two years from today, and nothing matters more to them. I'm sure they'd prefer to give Bush the opportunity to veto their minimum wage bill so they can play it against the Republican party, but they have bigger fish to fry.

Democrats say no congressional pay raises unless the minimum wage raise passes.

Roy Blunt of Missouri, the second-ranking Republican says: "the raises are crucial for members of Congress who are not independently wealthy and must operate two households on the current $165,200 salary."

It's just so hard to live on $165k per year.
Maybe that's why so many congressmen / women are so skinny?
They are starving.

If you ask me, congressmen should have their salaries capped at $75,000 a year. Thus if they wanted to earn more money congress would have to shorten the durations of its sessions while its members worked real jobs, delivering pizzas and painting houses. They could all benefit from a little more humility, and the rest of us would benefit from a congress that spends what little time it has focusing only on the most important issues.

Of course for that to happen congress would first have to provide funding to geneticists attempting to grow functional wings on laboratory pigs.

So after 30 hours a vote will be held. It might pass, it might not. If it does it goes back to the House to be delayed again and again. Man, things move fast in D.C. don't they?
