Default morpheus 2.0

is now "scheduled" for october release.

according to sources it will have "greatly expanded IM capabilities", branching links to differennt sites and the tentative ability to "connect with other p2ps, particularly gnutella".

obviously, they've been hanging on my every post

no word yet if they're going to make it "pretty", or if they heard littlejunefromsaskatoons' "may we have more colors please?"

i loved that one

Hope they're thinking about a better search engine or it's 4732 results for gnucleus, 121 for morpheus. And what's wrong with pretty colours? I was thinking pink and teal. Maybe with a Backstreet Boys skin.

I'd say it also needs a MAJOR code revision as the current Morpheus 1.3 uses way to many resources and is far too unstable . Oh yes, and every time it crashes, or I reboot my computer without properly closing it, it automatically wipes ALL my half-done transfers . Morpheus 1.2 didn't used to do this.

Still! Lets hope they pull their fingers out and actually improve the software. Morpheus 1.3 was a sidestep at best.

Dave!!

Thanks for the info, Jack!

I really hope they will do a total revamp (or perhaps a total rewrite if I may wish) to the client as I remember MC2 promising on the Morpheus forum some time ago. The recent updates to the bloated and resource-hogging Kazaa Media Desktop based client are justified but do not seem to make a big difference. What is really needed is a much leaner and meaner client and some serious fine-tuning to the functionality between supernodes so that searches will start to reach a larger portion of the network.

From what I've been able to get from MC and Joanie, the reason for the search limit was the " problem with extended searchs". Seems some ISP's were banning P2P applications because of the traffic their searchs put out. Your computer contacted 3 computer which each contacted 3 computers and so on. Seems they didn't have any way to tell the net you've already had the file and to stop searching.
So rather than find a way to chase down the requests and stop them without just adding another whole batch of traffic, they just limited the number.
1.3 hasn't been very nice to my computer. It's better than the "beta" they tried just before the offical release date, but it still causes problems.
Till they come up with something that I can keep running for more than 2 hours I'm going back to WinMx.
