Default What the Fuss???

What the Fuss????

Stevie Wonder's new video.....funky song....

Been digging it for about 2 weeks, even has my idol Prince on guitar.

Very 70's funk, not that 80's AC crap

check it out and let me know what you think!

a huge improvement for a guy who lost his way in the dull swamps of easy listening for 25 years! the visual queues the real stevie was back such as the earth-tones around his silhouette reminiscent of his old tamla label and lp jackets like innervisions were a nice if less than subtle touch. on the other hand slowing down derivative warhorses like p-funk’s “flashlight” shows he’s still far from working at his full potential. for me his original brand of cerebral funk was - and still is – unmatched, and i’d love to hear him return to those dig able roots.

I completely agree with you!

But I'd rather have him doing watered down P-funk than ever hear "Part time Lover" or "I just called to say I love you" ever again

Give me "Superstition" or "Higher Ground"...any thing from that period

BTW, Prince's riff in that song is sweet though

one other thing noteworthy about his video is the audio soundtrack he includes for the blind. afaik it's the first time it's been done. when you think about it videos and blind musicians are oxymoronic to some extent, but including a descriptive audio channel benefits both artist and blind "viewer" alike. since mtv debuted in '82 the blind have been singulary shut out of an art form that dominates the music culture. with stevie leading the way maybe this will help inspire more artists to include them.
