I must be doing something wrong. I uninstalled v1.4alpha1, installed the one you linked to (v1.0b), added my private key that I exported from the initial app, added your public key from page 1 of this thread, set the network id to "zer0share", changed the port to 11150, and tried to connect to 64.252.72.78:11150. Same thing happens, trying to connect, but nothing happens... My IP is still 85.25.109.152 for another few hours... I wonder if simply noone's online, or if I should try joining the new mesh you just mentioned? My port 11150 is open, btw... Thanks again for your help!

kindred: I have also added your key.

Here is mine:

My IP: 68.165.107.59:11150 (You need to add my key before attempting a connect)

It's usually up 24/7 (unless my DSL modem hiccups).

If you are running a router/firewall, make sure port 11150 is forwarded in the router to the (internal LAN) IP address of the computer that is running waste. Port 11150 should also be allowed to pass through any software firewalls such as ZoneAlarm or the firewall built into Windows XP.

Period. They can all take their DRM, broadcast flags, rootkits, and Compact Discs that aren’t really compact discs and shove them up their bottom-lines.

it's a good idea to run draks, and try my jacksback profile too. of the three i use, it probably runs the most consistently.

not necessarilly. waste has its own often baffling way of finding its way along the internet and after using it daily for nearly four years i can tell you that many times a first connection just won't happen, no matter how thorough the attempt.

often we'll resort to building, running, zipping up and then emailing a profile to a frustrated user. unzipping it to the existing waste folder and launching means instant connection. pre-made profiles come complete with fresh ip numbers and work 99% of the time. actually i don't remember one ever failing.

sometimes this is the only way to go.

once the initial connection is finally made however it's nearly bulletproof. the client will essentially always connect after that.
