Cry Sharman's on the offensive

The lawyers are now on the offensive. My own personal site is now no longer carrying anything to do with KL(yes, I was contacted by their lawyers). Sorry folks, self-preservation.

Hi PooterMan and welcome aboard!

I am sorry to hear about Sharman's bullying. Their message clearly is: 'we are protecting our brand and our right to stuff spyware into your computers'. I hope the remaining user base will respond with a similarly clear message.

Hey PooterMan, think you could post the letter Sharman's lawyer's sent to you?

Hmm, an interesting tactic here would be to put KazaaLite on Kazaa. They wouldn't dare demonstate that they're capable of filtering their own network.

At the moment, I'm a bit hesitent to post the email I got from them for a few days till the dust settles. Suffice it to say, I was given until May 3 to comply with their request.

this must be an awfull time for you PooterMan, after all the effort you've put into kl. try to think positively and remember that you've got friends. i've put it up on grokster as KaZaALite.exe, and not just my pc but it's been placed on many. this isn't over yet - it may lead to interesting things for you!

Hehe, shoulda waited until May 2.

Strictly speaking, email cannot be used to send legal notices (if that's what it was), as there is no proof you received it.

Brows Instant availability!

Ever since I downloaded my copy, its been accidently left on share over WinMx and Grokster... Amazing how many takers there are?, why I've even seen it taken by Nick@Kazaa folks too..

Loyality abounds it seems?

Snark..

Did a search on grokster, didn't find it. It just came up with the url to it and kazaalit.exe.manifest. And someone's cookie from kazaalite.com

One of my shared folders on all fileshare programs I use is P2P, which has several clean clients sitting to be downloaded by all who care to search.

That was interesting! I hit the "Backspace" key, got a message about "the data or page or something was expired?" so I hit F5 to refresh, and ended up posting my message again...

Hmmm, "kazaalite" returns almost no results, but
"kazaa lite" returns quite a handful. Of course, can't confirm that they are all working virus clean copies, but there are a lot of files to choose from.

Thanks to you and TG for the welcome, but I've been lurking here for a couple of months, so it doesn't quite feel like I'm new (to me at least).
Anyhoo, I'm pretty sure everybody here already uses kazaalite, but just for reference for those looking for the REAL kazaalite on FT:

kazaa_lite_160_final.exe - 1,239,513 bytes
kazaa_lite_151_final.exe - 1,087,620 bytes
kazaa_lite_160_final_deutsch.exe - 1,232,334 bytes

Using Vlaibb's sig2dat tool (dunno if I'm using this correctly):

File: kazaa_lite_160_final.exe
Length: 1239513 Bytes, 1210KB
UUHash: =+84exlD+El4kAIY1/tKkRsySV5w=

File: kazaa_lite_151_final.exe
Length: 1087620 Bytes, 1062KB
UUHash: =GnwOcUGw7H6nNVRbG4zpqt1m1Dc=

File: kazaa_lite_160_final.exe
Length: 1239513 Bytes, 1210KB
UUHash: =+84exlD+El4kAIY1/tKkRsySV5w=
