edonkey id numbers, oh my

Hi pod,

the most important factor that influences your donkey ID is, if you are behind a firewall or if you chose to connect through a proxy.

In most cases, you don't need to specify a proxy in eDonkey to connect to the eDonkey network. To check, if a proxy server was specified (either by you or by the default settings determined by eDonkey itself), go to the Options screen and press the Proxy Settings button. If you know you don't need a proxy, set the Proxy Type to None. If you are not sure, try it anyway. If it works, you're OK. If not, set it back to what is was before.
