What Song Is That? Ask Your Cell Phone
shazam! for 75 cents cell phone users in the uk can now get instant song ids when they hold their phones close to a sound source. just dial 2580, hold the phone up to the radio (or tv) playing the song and within seconds you'll get a text message with track title and artist name. all this so you can buy the tune obviously but the record companies should make it free since it facilitates a sale. ahem. presupposing crafty netizens don't use it for the name of their next download of course.

Wow.... Hard to believe this would work for the obscure stuff. I didn't know noice recognition had come this far. Really neat idea.

we could always call the uk nappy4eva. btw, some of us on another board, dslreports, just did a ct hike. we (nine of us) went to the top of sleeping giant sp in hamden on saturday and relaxed at the castle. we had a good time. let me know if you'd like to join our next one. same for any members local to the area. we'll start a ct/northeast chapter of nu.
