I'm listening to Portishead again
like i've been doing for days now, and wow. what a voice. but it was today that i noticed something that really stood out to me, and thats when Beth sings you can't hear her breath. no gasping breaths between notes, just singing.
and oh my indeed, recently dloaded one is not on the one cd i own, Dummy, the song is called Mourning Air, and it's toooooooo smoooooth, yet pondering and forebodeing. i love this band. |

Yeah, that one's from Portishead. I like Dummy better, but they're both good albums. Portishead turned me onto the whole Massive Attack/Morcheeba/dozen others Bristol sound.

got the second album, diden't like much of it at first. but hey, felt the same way bout the first album. and after a few listenings, i now love Over, Half Day Closing, Only You, and Mourning Air, and im warming up to the rest of it a little slower. theres something about her singing, the music, the lyrics, all of it, that just doesn't get tired, ive played Dummy 1000s of times since i bought it, and still love it. sadly cant say the same for all the artists i love, some just get tired. i also dloaded 3 vids, Only You is nice, weird underwater look, cool. Diden't like Sour Times that much, but the live clip of Glory Box is bad ass. (Portishead - Glory Box (Glastonbury 98).mpg)
lyrics And we don't need them, To cast the fate we have, Love don't always shine through, ‘Cause I don't wanna lose, What we had last time your leaving, This life ain't fair You don't get something for nothing, Turn now, Hmm gotta try a little harder, It could be sweet. |

Out Of Season by Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man (aka Paul Webb and including Lee Harris, both formerly of Talk Talk) has been my favorite album for about a year now.
Greedy, I'm pretty sure you'd also like O'rang, (P.W. & L.H. post Talk Talk collaboration) especially Herd of Instinct, which, while it's an older album I only recently discovered, has been my second favorite album for about a year. I might've posted this before, but here's a link to download a couple of tracks: http://www.epitonic.com/artists/orang.html PS to Shani (or anyone else interested) I've also got the double Glorytimes EP which has several remixes of Glory Box, if you'd like it. |
