your pronunciation of it...is how Kevin Burmeister (CEO of brilliant digital entertainment) and Niklas Zennstrom (some new head of new company and original co-founder of the software) say it....at least from what i've seen in their interviews on Dutch websites and Cnet.

personally it makes no difference to me.

A better question:

what does it mean?

you people did a real good job posting what the acronym for the R.I.A.A meant....so how about for KaZaA?

anyone got any ideas what the letters stand for? (i've been told they mean 'nothing' i find this very hard to believe re: 'rosebud just like 'rosebud' meant nothing to Orson Welles in that

movie Citizen Kane sure, i believe ya.... it don't mean a thang if ain't got that swang

Considering the word is not English derived, I'd say ka-za (or even ka-zah) is way off, and typical of the ignorant unwashed American masses (err, or something).

Even using English rules, the long ah at the end likely indicates a similar preceding sound.

you've been told the truth. originally the name was "kaa" (after an oriental restaurant the idea was first conceived at -- or so i've been told). however, the negotiations with the owner of www.kaa.com failed, calling for a slight twist in the name to push it to a free spot in the DNS.

I have heard others pronunce it Ka-Zaa

I personally pronunce it spier-weara, it seems others all so use this pronunciation as it easily identifies the main feature set.
