Default Morpheus 2 to use Gnutella

CNet News.com is reporting that Morpheus 2, which will be released in "the next few days", will be "based on Gnutella". This information is apparently coming from an interview with StreamCast Chairman Steve Griffin. There had been rumours about this before, but this seems to confirm it.

The article also mentions a falling out between Streamcast and FastTrack. Interesting stuff.

Personally, I hope the FastTrack network dies. Closed-protocols suck for end-users. Still, Gnutella isn't nearly as scalable as FastTrack right now. I wonder if the Morpheus 2 implements some sort of tiering as a solution to this problem.

Wink

I personally wish that StreamCast would ally with the giFT project and use their open source version of the FastTrack protocol which is technically just as good as the present 'official' version with the additional bonus of being open to all client developers. The ability to connect to the Gnutella network would be a nice bonus but relying solely on Gnutella does not sound too good.
