Need a program
Is there a program out there that will create a virtual cd-rom? Allowing you to extract and install and play games/programs right from your HD. Performance is not a worry. "it's for a friend"

Found something
Using the hard disk drive instead of your CD drive with notebook computers saves power. Your CD original will not be used so frequently and can be safely tucked away in your archive. No more tiresome and inconvenient inserting and taking out of frequently-used CDs! Virtual drives have a lower average access time to the stored data - thus the speed of your virtual drive and your "CDs" is determined by the speed of your hard disk drive. Experience your computer games for example in unimagined speed and say good-bye to any wobbly and jiggly video sequences |

Buddies of mine use this. Works pretty well by their accounts.

Thanks Malk! I will look into this one also. At first when my friend asked for it I was wondering what the heck he wanted it for? Now I'm interested as well never really thought about how handy it can be. No more wasted CD's burned for no reason when you can check the operation before burning as well as saving on disk and drive wear
