No. The first rap song ever was "Rapture" by Blondie.

No... but who used the word "dead", besides you?

The first rap song I heard was by 2 Live Crew - I don't remember the song name.

Myself and two friends were listening to it and laughed at what we considered to be the ludicrous nature of the lyrics. Yes, at first it was somewhat amusing to hear song lyrics that contained significant quantities of gratuitous vulgarity, contempt for women, and disrespect for the laws of our society. To the three of us, it was simply unbelievable that anyone would record and release such a song.

Although I know that not all rap songs have vulgar lyrics, contempt for women, and disrespect for the law - the ones that do have pretty much poisoned me to that genre.

I can tolerate any kind of music - except for rap. My dislike of it is so strong that I am offended to hear it and must leave the area.

Period. They can all take their DRM, broadcast flags, rootkits, and Compact Discs that aren’t really compact discs and shove them up their bottom-lines.

blondie was close but a bit late to the party in '80. rap had been around for a while before that and even charted. the sugarhill gang scored a top 40 hit in '79 with "rappers' delight", cut to to the bass of chic's "good times" and aerosmith had "walk this way" in '75, but blondie went all the way to #1 - with original music no less. back then the stuff was fun. sugarhill exploded in '82 with "the message," and by then rap was on it's way to the mainstream. so much so even chevy chase did a parody on his eponymous '83 lp, of which only 5000 copies were pressed (i have one). but what started out as light soon got very heavy. after the message rap started its major turn into darkness and anger.
