there is a group of people in the world who have healthy limbs and still want them removed. they are agitated that doctors with rare exception have not (so far) obliged them so a few have taken the plunge anyway. they congregate - where else - on the web. there's been a few reports including this one in the atlantic monthly several issues ago.

this guy seems very different. his "operation" will allow him to motivate for the first time in 15 years.

then there's those folks who drill holes in thier heads...
