Default "Piracy will be solved soon..."

This is amusing....Vivendi pulled it's music division off the auction block today:

Quote:
...Vivendi concluded Tuesday that it didn't make sense to sell Universal Music — home to hitmakers including Shania Twain, Bon Jovi, Ludacris, Eminem and Diana Krall — during an industrywide slump.
...and this is their rationale:

Quote:
"They are under the assumption that piracy will be solved soon, and if they sell now, it will be too low," says Sanford C. Bernstein's Michael Nathanson.

You really have to wonder who is advising these people,
cuz it's obvious they don't have a clue

could it be they figure suing end users is gonna be the silver bullet that kills p2p?

foolish mortals

HeHe it's more like the RIAA has another bodily protuberance in a bear trap.

I will never spend a another dime on content that I can’t use the way I please. If I can’t copy it to my hard drive and play it using the devices I want, when and where I want, I won’t be buying it. Period. They can all take their DRM, broadcast flags, rootkits, and Compact Discs that aren’t really compact discs and shove them up their bottom-lines.
