Default Hotlink sites might be getting infiltrated

I saw this posted on another site. At least people are quick to give warnings and remove the offending links.

"Several reports give evidence that files downloaded via the hashes from www.verifieddownloads.com contain viruses and fake files. One of the viruses includes the W32.Sdrop.worm.g
The links for the Matrix Reloaded movie are also fake."

hashes are great as far as they go but you really have to trust the source. they're fine traded among friends but when unconfirmed ones are dumped at a site as a "service", it's like asking for trouble.

Lame Downloads - People that visit diverse eDonkey-Boards already know it, the others are informed by us: In the last weeks there have been long downloadtimes on popular files, because a huge amount of chunks had corruptions and therefore had to be downloaded several times(Up to 100% Corruptions on all downloaded data - you can easily determine this by looking at the filedetails in emule). This is because Anti-Piracy organizations are sharing files with corrupted parts that spread heavily. The only available protection against this issue is blocking the IPs these organizations use. You can do this by using the ipfilter-feature in emule from v0.26 up. Simply download a actual IP-List from this this site(5397)

ip.prefix - There have been some confusions regarding the ip-filter we posted in the last news. People reported that their ISP's were listed in the filter. But the 'access level' of those ip's is mostly set not to block them(>=127), so you should have no problems. Also it's not enough to download the ip.prefix file and rename it to ipfilter.dat - you'll have to copy and paste the entry's in cleartext(by using the 'view'-link) to your ipfilter.dat-file(Choose each entry seperately, since there are some IP's you must not necessarily block). For a very detailed description of emule's ipfilter visit this thread in the emule-project forum
