Very interesting article, thanks Jack. Personally, I think that Hollywood and the recording industry are stuffed whatever they do. The day will come when digital clones of films and music are of as good a quality as the originals, and we all have the bandwidth to download them. Then where will the "free-samples-as-a-marketing-tool" argument be? The only incentive to buy the official product will be scrupulous honesty, and few people think that either Hollywood or the RIAA are deserving of such scruples.
