spent the afternoon with congresswoman maxine waters' helpfull office staff trying to find out if she voted for the dmca (recorded voice vote but - surprise - no record exists and - surprise - her office "doesn't know offhand" if she voted for it or not). it's a notorious bill with a lot of repercussions for filesharing, p2ps and the internet, all things waters is outspoken on, so you'd think they'd know, but there you go. i just want to write the following line in a piece i'm working: "that she voted for", instead of "helped create" which is kind of generic. why is life so hard... anyway next time i talk to them i'll ask how she feels about wexler's peebraintrust.

been grooving to elliott smith and his album xo the last few hours. tasty. the cut independence day, a tastey wafer.
