I've been meaning to make this thread forever Normy, not sure why I haven't gotten round to it yet--but I'm glad you did. Hope you don't mind that I moved it to the music forum.
Here's my first: David Sylvian - Damage From the tour of the same name, an achingly beautiful song with Fripp and Trey Gunn (on stick) at their goosebump-inducing, ethereal best. |

This is the entire Reverb segment (HBO) which features the band as they opened for a Björk segment and made me an instant fan. (And also made me sort of want to kill them because they were like 12 years old at the time and obviously highly favored by the gods of music).
Sigur Rós - Reverb Segment (TRT: 27:24) Btw, if you've never seen the video for Svefn-g-englar you really should check it out too--possibly one of the most strangely beautiful things ever. Makes me laugh, cry and all the malenky little hairs on my plott stand endwise at the same time. It gives me hope for us as a species. |

Weirdly I'm not like a die-hard Simple Minds fan--but New Gold Dream and Sparkle In The Rain still managed to be two of my favorite albums of all time. This song always makes me break furniture attempting dance moves I shouldn't oughta:

I don't know if Alan Parsons Project is one of my favorite artists; I haven't heard enough of their stuff. And this video is not of them performing...but it is a cool video utilizing one of their songs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2IH1rcIXuQ The next-to-last picture gave me chills and tears.... Edgar Allan Poe Publishes "The Raven" (1845) "The Raven," like Poe's other works, conveys the dreamlike and often macabre forces that pervaded the author's sensibility. Poe wrote the poem while his moribund wife was suffering from tuberculosis, and it became an instant sensation when it appeared in the Evening Mirror January 29, 1845. In the poem, the narrator, who is mourning the death of his love, Lenore, is mysteriously visited by a talking raven and asks the bird a series of questions. The poem: http://www.heise.de/ix/raven/Literat.../TheRaven.html
