Well, I 'm still uncertain about this but:
ranger121.dns2go.com Another server for you guys. Appears to work with both WinMx and AG. I think I have it set up correctly. If anyone can explain the settings to me (I'm using SlavaNap, which has crap documentation and dns2go) I'd be grateful.. |

It can't be set up correctly!!
I can connect to it, but nobody else can. Why is this? From Napigator: Performing server test... Resolving hostname... > Success. Connecting to server port... > Failed (Connection timed out (110)). Test failed with 1 errors. For those that know - What am I doing wrong? |

Progress on Pommy
very interesting to read all your comments yet again, and real pleasing to see the server list growing to three now, or is it 2 1/2
Sorry don't know anything about slaveNap (yet) still battling with OpenNap, but I think we are getting there at last. Using the settings defaulted in the distribution files is hopeless especially the queue values. Currently I have 200,000 in the queue and 500 max search, I can now browse completely the files on Pod's disk also Malk-a-mite both with over 2,500 files, but HAL9000 and JackSpratts with 3000 plus are still causing a crash and a disconnection. The initial idea about files with names begining with Z seems to have been a mis-assumption, as what seems to be happening is when the limits of browse are reached, only selections are made from the total list, so obviously the Z's will be at the end? Currently, and untll I can get some sure fire tips from other long standing Opennap servr OPs, I suggest you use search to find the files, and now browse, as this COULD leave you in the air? The comments about the CPU being the restriction, could be true here as its a 233MMX, and things have moved on a little since then. Still I never intended to join the BIG LEAGUE, really only after a specialist server, with reasonable limits, and NO STUPID BOTS or fussy server messages, and ANY client allowed, why put obstacles in peoples way, its supposed to be FUN... See you in the Napsterites room, or lounge, wherever... Snark.. |

Tech stuff on OpenNap
This is what happened
HAL9000 logged in with MX library.dat 256929 bytes update_stats: 0 bytes sent, 440225 bytes received SAL9000 logged in sharing 0 files update_stats: 0 bytes sent, 441841 bytes received SAL9000 browsing HAL9000 update_stats: 640183 bytes sent, 442167 bytes received appear to be OpenNap puts all results to client queue, SlavaNap sends in small chunk. 8888 is used to call server, 6699 is used for user-to-user call. you don't have change it. |

Question for the techie bods..
Why am I unable to browse the users on my server? I know they are there - they can see each other - I can see that there are several users connected, but I don't know who it is, and can't browse their files. Second, I can only return a max 500 results from a search. Is there any way round this? |

You have to use client to browse.
edit: I thought you were talking about browsing, anyway it's on same page. Last edited by HAL9000 : 01-04-02 at 04:44 PM. |

OMB you are forgiven?
It was said...>pardon the kenny g made some cd`s for a tanning salon (for free
Never mind we all make mistakes perhaps that was a good choice of music (!) certainly would BROWN me off.. Snark.. HAL you are correct about the queues, just had the FAQ from sourceforge, its all to do with the settings, seems there is a corruption in my config file a spurious character unseen, so Opennap is defaulting to the minimum value for the client_queue hence I will have to re-install when (IF) it goes quiet (Ever) Formal linking though usefull will cause more problems here until there are more resources, so you should be able to log into BOTH servers wihout the "already active" message (Unless someone is doing a nasty to us?) |

I've got a problem.........
Okay Hal and Ranger's servers are linked. I know when it was done because i was promptly kicked from ranger's server.
I saw Hal's screen shot which shows the two server listings under the 1 title and thought the two would automatically show up this way on my winmx 2.6 server list. It doesn't. Something I should know? Should I delete both server entries and just add the Hal server? Will this group the two together? Just askin'.... As always, TIA Edited to add: On Audiognome both servers are showing up separately. I thought (perhaps I'm mistaken) that when servers are linked, I'd see a "linked" server message (the usual message I see when servers are linked) and I'm not. Ranger server showing 9 users - Hal server showing 2. <----- (me) Last edited by goldie : 30-03-02 at 08:04 AM. |
