Thanks for the welcome. Still not getting a connection via Waste. Can you tell me which IP address I might be expecting it on?
Cheers, d. |

Hey rushwhq,
I can't connect to you with Waste, though I can ping your machine. Not sure if this means you haven't added my public key? (see above) Though, as I haven't successfull managed a connection to *anybody* via waste yet, we can't rule out configuration SNAFU at my end. Incidentally, today I reinstalled Waste (reverting to 1.0b), trawled the list for IPs that responded to ping (including you rushwhq), added the corresponding public keys and Voila! ...nothing. I did however manage to nab a (1) file with Shareaza before my router started dropping out every 90 seconds or so... perhaps I have hardware issues? Oh well, starting Tuesday I am attempting to bust the ISDN(128k) -> dialup(56k) -> ADSL(1500/256k) move, which I am advised will take 8-10 days (), after which I will have a static IP. Maybe some magic will take place during the shift that sorts everything out? We live in hope. |

OK, despite that fact that I realise that zer0share requires older versions of Waste, I decided to install 1.5b3 and experiment with attempting to connect to rushwhq.dnsalias.com:1337 anyway as this is the only machine I know that has been identified as being aware of my public key...
still no connection. I'm starting to think it could be a hardware problem (or at least a problem that's not worth spending time debugging given the hardware changes which are about to occur at my end). Maybe I'll' catch up with you on zer0share in a couple of weeks? Ciao, doofus. |

sorry. i decide to downgrade. install waste 1.4 alpha 3 on another directory. or uninstall the latest and install this version. before u uninstall copy ur private key 'save'. when u finish the installation of 1.4 alpha 3 import ur private key. dont forget to put in network name: zer0share go here. copy and paste in public keys http://snow.prohosting.com/cycent/zer0/keys.pl leave default port 1337. now try to connect to 64.252.81.79 , 81.226.112.55 , 207.62.163.93 |

So, some troubleshooting in real time with rushwhq allowed us to connect in private (non zer0share) using Waste 1.5b3 and was limited only by my shitty soon-to-change bandwidth.
During the process, we realised that somehow my public key was screwy, and generating a new one seems to have fixed things. JackSpratts (and anyone else who bothered) please replace the public key you have with: WASTE_PUBLIC_KEY 20 1536 doofus A5AC4DD199DDBCC2F676C372C71C98BD4E55A75719E21DC7CA547AFF0829 01854B0ED8F92BB486C8585C95C0D241891FA49D150B33C323270FCD18E3 29D7AD3CB9618A8FD7C11694222B4F4BD81C06E1158F8F7A972EC4FBA768 2184BC6982EA5704C6C5D36C3605C0BE8742ACB567DC4355C1763B6F8740 E11F9F6AB4B31D1D8FAFDCED2692A3C2178FA584AA390215C23240C261E1 6972F856F2E09234F46198E0068B92D42AE96BD7A28EA11A155FFD38640E E9C145A5EDD04248C57251590003010001 WASTE_PUBLIC_KEY_END (Also replaced above). After tonight's experiment I probably won't bother connecting to zer0share until the ADSL comes through in a week or two. 'til then... |

the new version 1.5 beta3 is backwards compatible with 1.5 beta2 and various other versions. I think everyone should save all the information and upgrade to the new version which can be downloaded at http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...group_id=82356
and by I mean save all your information I mean save your private key and the complete list of public keys along with network pass etc.... Also I am the admin to a network that is lookin for a few memebers so if your interested in joining plz poste your location and I will contact you individually... |

note:from 1.5beta3 release notes
"Note that the client has NO BINARY CHANGES. This release is meant to test the new installer/uninstaller and introduce new languages." as far as i can see all the v1.5 releases are still not compatible with v1.4 alpha 3 or earlier versions... you will only connect to zeroshare with v1.4 alpha 3 or earlier versions |

yes I do understand that but the reason you will only connect with those versions is b/c if you try to connect to a v1.4 setup with a v1.5 beta2 you will see that 1.5 isnt backwards compatible with earlier versions. Not trying to argue or anything seriously. I am glad they made version 1.5 beta3 backwards compatible with 1.5 beta2 and I am glad that they fixed the seurity leak from earlier versions finally...good job

read what i posted again.. they didnt do anything to 1.5beta3 but add languages and a new installer everything that has been done to the orginal source has been fairly cosmetic in nature except that 1.5 protocol change that made versions before that incompatible from inside the trusted environment of the mesh, imo that security leak that 1.5 was ment to fix should never be a problem.. |

indeed............but there was a security flaw that was altered somewhere in the source I just havent taken the time to hunt down exactly where it was altered. But anyways thought mostly cosmetic I would agree on...........futhermore, I do believe that zeroshare should upgrade and if anyone is interested in joining the network I am currently a member of PM me. Thanx All...

not able to connect
Hmmm,
can't connect though... I added all keys from http://snow.prohosting.com/cycent/zer0/keys.pl (btw. it doesn't list mine yet), opened port 11150 in my firewall and set this port in WASTE, also I put in zer0share as network name, plus I'm using 1.4 alpha 3. Finally I added 5 hosts to the network status window (the three from http://snow.prohosting.com/cycent/zer0/index.html#rn port 11150) and hit the connect button. Still - no go! Am I doing s/th wrong here?? Quote:
