Could everyone go to their options under File Transfers, and check the 'Try to bring up direct connection' option? I think it's off by default. Unless you'd rather not do that, of course

getting swamped?
i've been doing that for over a week. i notice it says "try to bring up direct connection..." i guess it isn't always able to. but i wonder if that's because both parties have to choose the option or if something else interferes, like firewalls maybe. - js. |

Heh, sort of. I don't really mind, and Waste is capped anyways so it doesn't become a problem (that's why my speed says 'slow dsl' . But unless you're specifically paranoid, you'll get better speeds (and more reliability too I bet) if you check it.
I think it says 'try' because it depends on several things. Probably both users need to have the option selected. Firewalls are another thing. Then you need to have each others keys. |

This is weird. It seems like my computer is trying to send the files but they're timing out on the other end so I keep getting new transfer requests. Maybe my 56K modem doesn't like two simultaneous uploads to the same user. In the meantime it's monoploizing every last bit of my bandwidth even though nothing seems to be going through.

Maze, first try aborting any transfer that's not active.
Second, try aborting the duplicate transfers and leave only 1 active ul see if that clears it up. You may also have to shut down waste then reopen again to see if it sticks - no worries though, it'll resume. |

1 particular nasty problem i see with waste
if you've done some housekeeping in your shared folders - waste takes foreva to show the changes, regardless of whether you immediately rescan your folders or not!
Don't like that much at all. |

Kriz look over your settings. Make sure you're listening. Then have your friends key and IP and he yours and connect to eachother. Then add more people by doing the same.
Everyone on the network should maintain at least two connections to the network. Ğ

hi kriz..
one of you must not have a firewall running..and use that ip to connect to..if u have a firewall on if u using xp turn off the firewall thats on by default maybe..if you dont seem to running one.. start with no network name/ID decide on one after you all get connected |
