Radiostorm have a great selection of stations, with 128kbps streams.
My favourite is the Alternative channel, but there is something there for everyone. High bitrate streams like those are great, because you can save the streaming MP3s whilst you're listening using Streamripper. I have to pay ridiculous fees for my sattelite connection, so I never just stream files. Better to have something to show for it It seems like a total waste not to save the streams to disk when the bandwidth is being used anyway, and the quality is excellent. Total Punk Radio are another great station, but they only do 56k streams. At least it saves on bandwidth, and the quality is just listenable. If I hear something I like, I can download a better quality copy with a P2P client. Most of my old favourites no longer exist thanks to the webcasting determination by the wankers at Librarian Of Congress |

i've got a bunch of high bit favorites and some lo-bit back-ups. some don't work at the moment and new ones are always being added.
here are the ones i'm using right now. if you want to try them, just put this txt file in your winamp folder and remove the .txt ending, after first changing your own file to WINAMP.bm.bak (otherwise it'll overwrite it). you may find a few you like. feel free to post yours. - js. |

I found an exceptionally cool site tonight, with high bitrate streams: Either 96k or 192k. Some kind soul put the URL in their folder path on Soulseek
http://www.touchmyemo.com So far it seems to be pretty Alternative/Melodic. Good mix, & the 192kbps MP3s come out great with Streamripper. Edit - Should have checked the site name closer - Music style is Emo - short for "emotional." Emo is a broad title that covers a lot of different styles of emotionally-charged punk rock. Wicked stuff. Last edited by Fantom : 14-01-03 at 12:17 PM. |

I do the usual suspects:
Soma: http://www.soma.fm/ (yay, it's back!) Digitally Imported: http://www.di.fm/ DIU: http://www.detroitindustrial.org/ DIU seems to be experiencing difficulties for the past 6 months, and their selection was a bit limited, but it was always a nice break. That, and my own private streamer! I stuck all my mp3s into a db, wrote a loader module for Icecast (http://www.icecast.org/), banged out a PHP front end to control and see playlist, etc. It's better than a file share to my work machine, which is what I was doing before. |

Used to have hundreds in my favorites list; now they're all dead.

Monkey Radio
Stream @ 160kb What is Monkey Radio? Well, some call it "Trip-Hop." And some call it "Acid Jazz." Some call it "Downtempo" or "Abstrakt Beats." Now take the intersection of all these. Stir in groove. Dust with sexiness. Simmer. Voila. |

for those who like indie pop soma fm has really focused thier indiepoprocks! outlet. if you like what you hear in the first 15 minutes you'll like it all week long now. it's been on steady here for months. elise is doing a great job with the format.
