Guys, the current vice president, a social conservative, is the proud father of a lesbian. To the religious right that is worse than a pregnant teenage daughter, and yet the liberal media has had the class to leave that issue alone. Why is Palin's supposed hypocrisy being drummed up by liberals? Because you're not afraid of offending pregnant teens for one thing, since they can't vote anyway. But really you're doing it because you're afraid that people might ignore it, being the non-issue that it really is. Because Palin's few political scandals are so minor that they can't be used to make decent attack ads, you're picking apart her private life instead and delving into issues that don't belong in the public arena.

Because Cheney's daughter being lesbian was not his choice.
In speaking on keeping her Down's baby, Palin spoke of her choice to do so. When speaking of her daughter's baby, Palin spoke of her choice to keep it. Yet Palin believes in removing that same choice form everyone else. Likewise, Palin is against Sex-Ed and believes in 'abstinence only', nothing more and nothing less, which has proven ineffective not only in the rest of the US and the world, but in her own house. She also doesn't believe in contraception, even for married couples. She is of a religious right sect who believe a woman should only ever have sex for the purpose of having a child. She is in no way in line with the views of the people of this nation, which is why the McCain campaign has said she will not be interview by the press, which should be criminal for someone running for public office. Quote:
2) the mainstream media has largely left it alone since(aside from properly contrasting it with related public policy positions) 3) her "few political scandals" are active, ongoing, and required her to hire an attorney a couple days ago - that's not minor, particularly in the context of a Presidential election. 4)the McCain camp is now milking the issue with faux outrage and using it as an excuse to shield her from all media interviews. how seriously do they expect voters to take Palin if she can't take the heat of a Presidential campaign - just like the boys? |

Oh, she'll be interviewed by the press, there's no doubt about that. You'll just have to wait a little while. Nobody gets elected without kissing up to the TV personalities.
Anyway, she's running for president of the senate, not president of the US. People understand that she has no voice in policy making, except for the occasional tie breaker, so they're not going to be particularly worried about either her or Biden's more extreme opinions. They only get to debate each other once and most people won't care enough to watch. Why is Palin getting so much attention? Could it be the possibility of a woman vice president running against Hilary in four or eight years? I think there's something to that. |

Faux News isn't 'the press'
She's getting a lot of attention, and rightly so, because the chance of McCain dieing in office is greater than any president in history. Do you want a complete unknown, unknown except for her extreme views, as President? She needs to hold a open press conference, not appear on Faux Friends and get her ass kissed. On a side note, while most politicians at least pretend to speak to the economic troubles of those who are losing their homes in this brutal economic climate, not McCain. Because he's too full of mavericky goodness for that: Quote:
But wait a minute! Isn't this the very same McCain who didn't want to provide help for homeowners who, faced with skyrocketing interest rates and/or drastic property devaluations, were facing 'pay the difference or get out' orders, because he didn't want to 'bail out market investors'? Now THAT's a Mavericky Maverick you can believe in! Š
