are the speeds per second? 5mb seems pretty slow...

i don't mind paying a few bucks for the service - do you think SSL encryption is worth paying for?

hey mal, where do you get your nzb's?

edit: Bellsouth/ATT always made me uncomfortable since they apparently spy on everything that passes thru their servers...

The 10MB account is $9.60/ month or $85 a year. And it includes SSL. They even have an upload server with SSL. I didn't know how much you were willing to pay, Mr Oil Tycoon. Some people get pissed that it's not free anymore.

I use Xlned Lite, its 312KB. I was torn between that and the next one up, but I figured I'd try the Lite at first. I went with the 6 months rate. They let you easily upgrade if you decide you want a faster one.

This is my favorite site for nzb's http://nzbmatrix.com/index.php

yup, i like nzbsrus but i'm confused about something: the retention rate for nzbsrus is 20 days, if you don't give them money...so if you sign up for a paid usenet service, are you also getting nzb's from them, therefore taking advantage of their longer retention rate?

Only the servers that use an interface allow you to get nzb's from them, or even download directly without an nzb. But they cost more because they cater to new users (take advantage of).
This place has a longer retention for free. http://findnzb.com/

Here's a deal for AT&T people if you want longer retention. http://ngroups.net/index1.php?p=3isp

yer a compendium of useful info, nap

i'll have to ponder my next move...can't complain about paying a few bucks per month for unlimited content, just a question of where to put the $$'s...

hey one more dumb question: i'm not quite clear on how you establish multiple simultaneous connections on say, Newsleecher, for example...are you opening separate instances of the same program?

and btw, thanks to all for the info
